AN OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, HON. DR. LUCKY ORIMISAN AIYEDATIWA, EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF ONDO STATE

Your Excellency,

I extend my warmest congratulations to you on your well-deserved victory at the polls and your successful swearing-in as the Executive Governor of Ondo State. Your emergence as the leader of our dear Sunshine State is a testament to the trust and confidence the good people of Ondo have in your capacity, experience, and leadership qualities. I pray that God grants you wisdom, strength, and good health to pilot the affairs of the state toward sustainable progress and prosperity.  

Your Excellency, Ondo State has witnessed remarkable strides in governance over the years, especially in security, infrastructure, education, and economic growth. Among these, one of the most impactful legacies of the previous administration under the Late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON, was the establishment and optimal utilization of the Amotekun Corps, the grassroots security network that significantly contributed to the safety and well-being of our people.  

The establishment of Amotekun was a bold and strategic move aimed at tackling insecurity, safeguarding lives and property, and complementing the efforts of conventional security agencies. The corps has played a vital role in combating banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities that once posed serious threats to the peace and stability of our state and the entire Southwest region. Through its intelligence gathering, swift response mechanisms, and community-based approach, Amotekun became a model for grassroots security and a beacon of hope for citizens who yearn for a safer society.  

As you assume leadership, I humbly urge you to continue strengthening this security architecture. The effectiveness of Amotekun should not only be sustained but also improved upon. Investing in the corps through enhanced training, better equipment, and increased personnel will further bolster its efficiency. Security remains a critical foundation for development, and without it, meaningful progress in other sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and commerce may be difficult to achieve.  

Ondo State is blessed with abundant human and natural resources, and ensuring a safe and conducive environment for businesses and investors will be instrumental in driving economic growth. Many entrepreneurs, farmers, and traders depend on a stable and secure environment to thrive. With a well-supported *Amotekun* and synergy with federal security agencies, Ondo State can consolidate on the gains already made while setting new standards for community policing in Nigeria.  

Your Excellency, the legacies of great leaders are defined by their ability to sustain and improve upon commendable policies of their predecessors. The late Arakunrin Akeredolu was a fearless leader who championed the cause of state and regional security with passion and unwavering commitment. He stood for justice, fairness, and the protection of lives and property. It would be a great honor to his memory and service if your administration continues to uphold and expand on this noble vision.  

Moreover, a secure state fosters youth engagement, talent development, and employment opportunities. When security challenges are minimized, young people can focus on their aspirations, whether in education, entrepreneurship, sports, or entertainment. This, in turn, reduces crime rates and social vices. Your administration has a unique opportunity to integrate security efforts with youth empowerment initiatives, ensuring that our young population remains productive and engaged in nation-building.  

Sir, history has placed upon your shoulders the responsibility of leading Ondo State into a new era of progress and stability. You have demonstrated resilience, dedication, and a deep understanding of governance, and I have no doubt that you will serve with excellence and integrity. As you embark on this journey, may you be guided by wisdom, fairness, and the love for the people who have entrusted you with their mandate.  

Once again, congratulations, Your Excellency. May your tenure bring unprecedented peace, development, and prosperity to Ondo State.
